Scone Abbey (originally Scone Priory) was a house of Augustinian Canons dating from 1122.
The Abbey was home to the ‘Coronation Stone’ (the Stone of Scone) and it is where Robert the Bruce was crowned king of the Scots in 1306. In 1559 the Abbey was burned down by an angry mob of protestants.
